Terms of Service

The short version: use the tools on domains and servers you are entitled to look at, don't try to get around the limits, and pay for a plan if you need more than the free tier.

Last updated October 25, 2026

1. Who we are

dnsdon ("we", "us") is operated by the operator of dnsdon. These terms apply to the website at localhost:8080, its free tools, accounts and paid plans (together, "the service"). By using the service you agree to them. If you use it for an organisation, you agree on its behalf.

2. The free tools

The tools are read-only. They send DNS queries, make TLS connections and request web pages from public servers, and report what came back. Results describe one moment from one location and can be incomplete; they are information, not a guarantee that a domain, certificate or mail setup works.

Each visitor gets a number of checks per minute and per day. Accounts on paid plans get more (see pricing). We may change these limits to keep the service available to everyone.

3. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • use the service to scan, map or probe systems you are not authorised to test, or to support an attack on anyone;
  • get around rate limits or daily allowances, for example by rotating IP addresses or creating multiple accounts;
  • run automated or bulk checks against the website (a public API is planned; ask us if you need one sooner);
  • resell the service or its results as your own product without our written permission;
  • interfere with the service, or with the third-party servers it queries, such as DNS resolvers and blacklists.

We may block requests, suspend accounts or cancel plans that break these rules. For a paid plan we will tell you why, and refund the unused part of the current period unless the use was abusive.

4. Accounts and monitoring

You need an account to monitor domains. Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. Only monitor domains you own or manage, or have permission to monitor. Monitoring runs on the schedule of your plan and sends alerts by email, and on paid plans also to Slack or a webhook. Alerts depend on email delivery and on third-party servers answering, so we cannot promise every problem is caught or reported in time.

To collect DMARC reports you publish an address we give you in your DMARC record. You can remove it at any time; reports then stop arriving.

5. Paid plans and billing

Paid plans are subscriptions billed monthly in advance, in US dollars, at the price shown on the pricing page when you subscribe. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Sales tax or VAT is added where it applies.

  • Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled.
  • Changing plan. Upgrades take effect immediately and you are charged the prorated difference. Downgrades take effect immediately with a prorated credit toward future payments.
  • Cancelling. Cancel any time from Settings. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then your account moves to the Free plan. Monitors beyond the Free limit stop being checked; their history is kept.
  • Failed payments. If a renewal fails, Paddle retries it. If it still fails, the subscription is cancelled and the account moves to Free.
  • Price changes. We will email you at least 30 days before a price change applies to your subscription.
  • Refunds. See the refund policy.

Early access and founding prices

During early access, paid plans can be used free of charge until the date shown on the pricing page, with no payment details. When it ends, the account moves to the Free plan unless you subscribe; nothing is charged automatically. Accounts that joined early access can subscribe at the founding price shown at the time, which applies for as long as that subscription stays active. If the subscription is cancelled and later restarted, the standard price applies. We may end early access sooner, or extend it, and will tell members by email.

6. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service running, but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and there is no service-level agreement on any plan. We may change or remove features. If we remove something a paid plan includes, we will tell you in advance and you may cancel and receive a prorated refund.

7. Your data

Our privacy policy explains what we collect. You can delete your account and its data at any time from Settings. Shared report links are visible to anyone who has them until they expire.

8. Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost revenue, lost mail or downtime, arising from your use of the service or from relying on its results. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it arose, or US$50 if greater. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may end these terms or close an account with 30 days' notice, or immediately for a serious breach of section 3. Sections 8 and 10 continue after the agreement ends.

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and its courts have jurisdiction, except where the law of the country you live in gives you the right to bring a claim there. Please contact us first; most problems are quicker to fix by email.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For changes that matter, we will email account holders at least 14 days before they apply. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept them.
